Think of this as your way to spy into my writing journey and keep up with my current projects (and maybe catch a cute dog picture here and there).

  • I am T. M. Baylor, but my friends call me Torren.

    I’m known online as that one goth author (gothor for short). I have always been a lover of everything dark and morbid and I love to find the peace in the darkness, the safety in the uncomfortable.

  • I write dark fantasy books and horror short stories. I pride my writing on being both a nuanced portrayal of human experience and also being fun and engaging to read.

    My first published novel called A Forgotten Legend, the first in The Secrets of Eterin series, will be released shortly.

Since the last time I posted an update here, a lot of exciting things have happened! I not only finished the second draft of A Forgotten Legend but I also officially sent it off to beta readers! I’ve already gotten a lot of good feedback and I can’t wait to see everyone’s opinions after they’re all done reading it!

I also reached the 1/3 mark for the second book’s first draft and can’t wait to share that book with y’all too!

A Forgotten Legend has an official cover design as well! The cover reveal will be posted on here and all of my social medias on April 27th, 2025 so make sure you’re keeping an eye out for that!

My first draft came in the mail about a week ago and oh, my, is she gorgeous. The first draft has the mock cover on it and I’ve jumped right into editing it.

I will say, I am loving that I’m able to see the improvement in my writing style from the beginning chapters of the first draft to how I write now. It really is proof that the more you write, the better you get!

I’m still working on the second book of The Secrets of Eterin as well (because I refuse to give myself any type of break) and just surpassed 6,000 words last night!

In other news, I recently started a joint YouTube channel with several of my closest author friends and we’ve jumped right into it! We all have different stories/books and are at different points in the writing process so we made the channel to give other authors a one-stop-shop for all their writing/reading related needs, whether they’re a plotter or a pantster, writing fantasy or romance, series or standalone.

I just finished my first draft of my upcoming novel and started the first draft for the second book in the series! I ordered a printed copy of book one’s first draft (with the mock cover) that will be here in a few weeks (probably beginning of February) and until then, I will be focused on working on bringing the second book to life.
